On Monday June 3, Archbishop Carroll High School honored Helen McCulloch, RSCJ, with the Patrick Cardinal O’Boyle Award, recognizing her 34 years of service to the school.
This award, which was created in 2013, honors those members of the religious community and/or members of the lay community who have worked in conjunction with the fundamental purposes of Archbishop Carroll High School as outlined by its founder, Patrick Cardinal O’Boyle — catholic identity, social Justice, catholic values and the understanding that the Catholic Church and all of its Catholic schools have a place of importance and principle in the city of Washington, D.C.
Sister McCulloch is the first female recipient of the Patrick Cardinal O’Boyle Medal. She retired from Archbishop Carroll High School in 2023 after serving as college counselor to generations of students, parents, administrators, faculty, and staff who loved and held her in high esteem. In her 34 years, Sister McCulloch advocated for, secured financial aid, and encouraged over 3000 students to pursue higher education. Her commitment to ensure that all students were given the same opportunities has been her lifelong passion.
