This winter issue of Heart magazine explores the myriad ways our Sacred Heart family lives out and continues to grow the mission of the Society of the Sacred Heart to discover and reveal God's love in the heart of the world, with a focus on the RSCJ's fourth vow, a commitment to the education of youth.
Heart is published two times a year to highlight the mission and ministries of the Society of the Sacred Heart, United States-Canada, for a wide circle of friends. The covers, photographs of hearts in nature, symbolic of Christ's presence at the heart of the universe, bear witness to the contemplative dimension of the Society's "wholly contemplative, wholly apostolic" mission: To discover and reveal God's love through the service of education.

In this 20th anniversary issue of Heart magazine, we take a look back at the origins of Heart and explore, today, the many ways the Religious of the Sacred Heart (RSCJ) are living and building the future of the Sacred Heart mission with and across different generations.
“Walking into the Future Together With Courage and Confidence” was the theme of the United States – Canada Province Assembly that took place in July 2022. This theme continues throughout the pages of this Heart magazine issue. Amid the Advent season, the stories in this issue shine a light on partnering organizations, donors, alumnae/i, young people, staff and educators, who all share in the Society's mission and journey with the Religious of the Sacred Heart to discover and reveal God's love in the heart of the world.
As we celebrate and reflect during the month of the Feast of the Sacred Heart, we recognize the many ways the wide Sacred Heart family continues to discover and reveal God's love in the heart of the world. The mission of the Society of the Sacred Heart continues to deepen and flourish in the United States – Canada Province, and at the heart of this mission lies connection.
In this Mission Advancement Annual Report issue of Heart magazine, the Society of the Sacred Heart, United States – Canada Province shares stories of light and gratitude. With the changes of the last year has come adaptation and emergence into something new. This year has brought about many unexpected changes, from the way we work, teach, communicate and spend time with one another. The COVID-19 pandemic, in addition to the renewed call to anti-racism work, shifted our focus for this issue of Heart magazine. In this issue we cover province programs that took place pre-pandemic, get a glimpse into how Network of Sacred Heart schools transitioned to virtual learning, and contemplate our call to racial justice in light of the Feast of the Sacred Heart coinciding with Juneteenth.
Our United States – Canada Province is one of 28 provinces that make up the global Society of the Sacred Heart. Religious of the Sacred Heart consider themselves members of one international community, and this unity is important. The words cor unum et anima una in Corde Jesu (one heart and one soul in the Heart of Jesus) appear on each of our profession crosses.
Education is at the heart of everything we do as Religious of the Sacred Heart. Untold numbers of people have come to know and experience God’s love through their Sacred Heart education or through relationships with Religious of the Sacred Heart. This issue explores a variety of stories about Sacred Heart schools ministries, RSCJ ministries and the breadth of Sacred Heart education today.
