Sister Marie Louise Fitz-William, beloved daughter of the late Charles Bernard (Raoul) and Marie Bain Fitz-William, sister of the late Lucie (Mrs. Bernard) Nordmann and brother Charles Fitz-William, beloved aunt of sister Lucie Nordmann, rscj, and nephews Bernard, Robert, William, David, Lawrence, John, and Christopher, died peacefully at Oakwood, retirement center of the Religious of the Sacred Heart, in Atherton, CA, on August 18, 2009, in her ninety-sixth year.
Sister Marie Louise, affectionately known as “Bunny,” was born on April 2, 1913, in St. Louis, attended the Academy of the Sacred Heart (City House), and graduated from Maryville College before entering the Society of the Sacred Heart in 1933. She made her final profession of vows in the Society at Kenwood, Albany, NY, in 1936.
During her long career as educator and librarian at the Sacred Heart schools in St. Louis, St. Charles, Cincinnati, and New Orleans, Sister Bunny, with a winning smile, a gentle manner, and great sense of humor, won the hearts of all who met her. After sixty-five years of dedicated ministry, she retired at Oakwood in 2001, where she continued to bring peace and joy wherever she was.
A requiem mass will be celebrated at Oakwood on monday, august 24, 9 a.M., To be followed by sharing of memories and a luncheon.
